The most powerful thing we can do as humans is to connect. Conversations truly have the power to change our lives. I love Riaz Meghji's motto, Every Conversation Counts.
Conversations shape our lives, I am sure we can all recall one that altered our mindset or outlook on life. How I Built This with Guy Raz has truly exemplified to me how powerful conversations and storytelling can be. Looking at successful companies and founders, like Peter Rahal and RXBAR, I assumed they had it figured out all along and were destined to succeed. But, the powerful and intimate conversations between Guy and his guests has shown me that this is far from the case.
My favourite episodes: 1.Starbucks, Howard Schultz: I learned that Howard’s vision for Starbucks was rejected by Starbucks's CEO. So, in 1986 he left them to open his own little coffee shop called Il Giornale before later returning. 2.Soul Cycle, Julie Rice & Elizabeth Cutler: I learned that the first studio was a back lobby on 72nd Street in New York, which they got on Craigslist. They had a yellow-painted rickshaw on the sidewalk to grab attention, despite it getting them parking tickets.
What conversations have shaped the way you view the world?
